The Department of Computer Applications at SRM Universityhas been imparting instruction in computer applications with the most modern curriculum and syllabus to students of the post graduate course since 1994. It has succeeded in creating its own place of excellence among its counterparts in Tamil Nadu and India. In fact, the department has been attracting bright students from all parts of the country for quality education in computer applications at the post graduate level.
The department's endeavor is to play a vital role in the applications of computers by promoting innovative work in software engineering, human-computer interaction, intelligent systems etc. And to this end, it is committed to providing an exciting academic program to prepare students for the greatest challenges of the 21st century.
Master of Computer Applications
The course curriculum is comprehensive and aims to provide sound theoretical concepts coupled with hands on experience in the best solution frameworks. The course curricula have been designed mainly to focus on the following thrust areas-system software, Data bases and Computer Networks in addition to various other allied fields and basic sciences.
Facilities for research are offered in the department on various topics leading to Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics and Computer Applications.
The department has qualified and experienced faculty members in the areas of Data Structures, Data Communication and Net Working, Software Testing and Quality Assurance, Data Warehousing and Data Mining. There is widespread interaction between this department and other University departments in the field of teaching and research.

The faculty members of the department have conducted lecture sessions and technical sessions for the students recruited by software industries (CTS, Wipro etc). The department has formed a Corporate Advisory Board which includes top executives form reputed industries. Formation of this advisory board will go a long way in achieving the major goals of the department in a phased manner.
There has been as increasing trend in the number of students getting placed in National and International software companies and in top corporate bodies during the recent past. During 2006-2007, more than 100 students were selected to serve in CTS, HCL, Wipro, Polaris, Virtusa, US Teach etc through campus recruitment drive.
