Faculty Abroad Program
Enriching the faculty with international partnerships...
SRM University has sponsored over 25 faculty members - under the Faculty Abroad Program - to pursue their research and post doctoral programs at leading universities across the world.
Arranged with assistance from the Directorate of International Relations and SRM University's International Advisory Board (IAB), faculty members are given this opportunity to gain experience in international teaching methods, research and advancements in their field of specialization. SRM University has forged alliances with Partners International (Harvard Teaching Hospitals), University of Wisconsin, Johnson and Wales, University of London, Queen's, Ontario, Tokai, Kyushu and University of Southern Australia to enable this initiative.
It was a unique opportunity to be sponsored to the University of California, UC Davis and Berkeley through the Faculty Abroad Program. It was an inspiring experience to get to know the curriculum, research focus & facilities and student learning environment at UC Davis. It was equally exciting to see 17 of our SRM students there. We are now looking forward to transforming our curriculum and learning methodology. We are now in touch with several renowned research professors at UC Davis and Berkeley, to initiate joint research. We want to make a difference at SRM!
Dr. S. Malarvizhi, HoD, ECE
Dr. Vimala Juliet, HoD, ICE
Our visit to MIT at Boston, USA, during May 2008 as part of the FAP was an experience that certainly changed the way we teach. It was exciting to observe their classroom and laboratory teaching methodology. Finding solutions to current industrial needs, testing using software and mini projects in each of the areas, have made students self-confident in their field of study.
We were also happy to see how six of our SRM students, at MIT under SAP, have grown with their experiences.
