A Community Radio serves a particular community, in accordance with the locality of the radio station. Community radio works on the basis of the principle ‘for the Community, about the Community and by the Community’. Muthucharam Community Radio stands on the way to provide a complete ‘Infotainment’ to its listeners. Apart from producing programmes, it focuses on deriving programmes from the community which helps in achieving the wide participation and the broad awareness about the community radio that is functioning in that particular area.

Muthucharam CR through its best focus on its target audience in availing their contribution of programmes and sequential broadcasting makes the participants and the listeners immensely happy and constantly reactive to the radio content. The content covers the aspects of education, health, agriculture and occupation which play a vital role in the upliftment of a community. Muthucharam CR extends its service from to 10 to 15 kms in and around Kattankulathur block. Muthucharam CR has created a prompt knowledge and interest about the service of the community radio to its community.

Objectives of Muthucharam

Muthucharam CR has a main motive in uplifting the state of a community, almost in all dimensions of their everyday lives.

  » Muthucharam CR expands its space in enriching the occupational and the live setup of the community by presenting desired genres like radio dramas, songs on social themes, interviews, debates on crucial issues and group discussions which involve the community and the concerned field experts together.

 » To widen the awareness range of the community about employment and educational career opportunities. To improve the community, certainly we need to spare our high focus on women and their contribution to the society. Hence, to empower women, programmes on health environment and self employment are being produced in frequent slots. Muthucharam CR persuades the community to enhance their potential in multiple aspects, for being socially active by its strong objectives.

Programmes of Muthucharam

» Nalammai Vaazhvom- Health and Nutrition programme. This programme is about health and hygiene by a specialized doctor's interview in order to guide the people to lead a healthy life.

» Therindhu Kolvom- Informative programme. This programme updates the community about the Institutions like AIDS centre, Traffic Rules and Safety Measures, Weather Research Centre and Consumer Forum.

» Panchayath - community development programme. It helps the community to raise their queries regarding the crisis and needs of the community to which the panchayat president will provide answers and remedies simultaneously.

» Arattai- Discussion about a social theme by students.

» This discussion brings out the opinion of the youth on maximum social issues.

» Arimugam - Exploration of new ideas. Interviews with the representatives of NGOs, SHGs about the service of their respective organizations about the enhancement of our society.

» Aayakkalaigal- This programme is about art and literature which covers the interviews of artistic experts such as singers, dancers, writers, sculptures and artists, etc.

» Namma Ooru Natchathiram- Familiarizing a personality. This programme presents an interview of a skilled personality who lives in the villages in and around kattankulathur.

» Medai-A compound show. The medai programme brings up the commune participation in exhibiting their skills by presenting Titbits, poetry, short stories, cookery tips, etc.

» Rasanai-Portrayal of a Literature. This literary slot is carried out by a discussion about an eminent Tamil writer, his/her contribution to the literary world and about his masterpieces.

» Therukkoothu-The ancient Tamil folk art. This entertainment programme is a source to rewind our renowned ancient folk art that depicts the social themes and issues on streets in a simplified nature of a drama show which includes song, conversation, dance and drama.

» Vagupparai- Focus of a class room. It projects a classroom in which the teacher teaches a lesson for a particular class which helps to capture the interaction between the students and a teacher.

» Vaanavil- performance of a variety show. Vaanavil creates an outlet for the talents of SHG/NGO members and for the school children to encourage innovative variety performance.

» Velaan arangam- An agricultural segment. This segment has an agricultural and livestocks related programme where the public report their queries to the experts for clarifications.

» Vinaadi vinaa - quiz show. It is a programme being conducted by any individual in the community, which emphasizes the nourishment of knowledge among the school children.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The prime target audience of Muthucharam CR are Self Help Group members, Chamber workers and other local labourers of the community. Muthucharam CR consists of Kattankulathur block and its 39 villages which are the concerned target audience of Muthucharam CR.
