Myself Dr. Suvankar Ghorai. I have obtained my PhD from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India. I have done my post doctoral training at New Jersey Medical school and University of Washington at Seattle USA on different aspects of HCV, HIV and AIDS. Coming back to India, I have been associated with National Center for Cell Science (NCCS) Pune, as a research scientist and currently I am holding the post of Research Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Biotechnology, School of Bioengineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University), Tamil Nadu, India. I am a young, hard working and enthusiastic scientist and want to learn and explore science with best of my ability. With the educational qualification and over more than 10 yrs of research exposure, I strongly believe that I can take diverse scientific challenges and come to logical conclusions. 

My area of research interest includes Infection Biology, especially viral infection and antiviral development. Goal is to establish an infection biology lab with BSL3+ Facility to work on highly infectious disease along with animal house facility. I have already taken the initiative to work on DENV and a lead host factor has been identified. Current research has been going on to explore the host factor for potential therapeutic target. I have collaborated with Dr. Alain Kohl from University of Glasgow and Dr. Samit Chattopadhyay, Director, IICB, Kolkata. I would also like to work with different other viruses and develop a High Throughput Screening (HTS) platform for antiviral compound screening. I am also interested in T cell immunology, especially how different lineages of T Cells are developed and diseases associated with abnormal differentiation and lineage commitment of T cells. I am also interested in structural biology and collaborated with Dr. N. Manoj, IIT Madras for the structural studies of one important protein.
