Most of my work focuses light metals and its alloys (Aluminium and Magnesium), processing, structure property correlation and solidification sciences.  Working in Gold and Silver alloys to enhance their mechanical and physical properties in collaboration with Industry.  Exploring methods to understand the structure using imaging techniques  based on X-rays (tubes and Synchrotron) and neutron.

  • Strengthening Gold for high strength and light weight jewelry applications

 

Industrial research achievements

I developed a new technology for hardening the gold (99.99% pure) and gold Alloys(22K) for light weight jewelry application. This hardening of gold alloy project has reached a significant milestone. With my technology, Tanishq Jewelers (A Jewelry Division of Titan) have produced gold bangles (22K) on a Pilot scale. Bangles, in eight different designs have been made and are available for sale in Tanishq Jewelleries in Bangalore, Hosur and Chennai from Dhanteras Day, 28th Oct 2016. I have  realized this entire prestigious project in a record time of 20 months, which includes laboratory experiments, series of industrial trials and production by Tanishq Jewelers.

Qualification:  ME or MTech or M.Sc (Eng) in  Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mechanical/production/manufacturing Engineering (preferably manufacturing as specialization) from a reputed institute, Candidates having GATE score will be preferable.  Candiates must register for PhD under the same topic  in Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM University.

Desirable:  Candidate must have good academic record and determination to have research as carrier goal

Stipend:  As per DST norms

2. Project Associate for an Industrial Project with Titan Company Ltd, Hosur, (Jewelry Division and Titan Watches)

Title: "Improving the tarnish resistance of fine and sterling silver".

Tenure:  1 Year

Qualification: ME or MTech or M.Sc (Eng) Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mechanical/production/manufacturing Engineering (preferably manufacturing as specialization) from reputed institute, Candidates having GATE score will be preferable.  Candiates must  register for PhD under the same topic in Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM University.
