Mr. Devansh.S. Saraf, Ms. Anishaa Harshinee, Ms. Priyanka.P, Ms. Isha Shah and Mr. Eshwaran.S.K from III Year Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University), Kattakulathur Campus, Participated in Technical Event held at IIT Madras. They attended the competition of Technical paper presentation at IIT Madras on 18th and 19th of July 2017. It was a three round competition called as the “Carbon Zero Challenge” in which the first round was the online submission of the abstract.
About 575 teams including B.Tech, M.Tech, PhD, research scholars and entrepreneurs all across South India had applied for the competition. Out of the 575 teams, about 50 teams were selected for the second round. SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) students were one among the 50 teams who were selected to present our paper on “Waste Water Management by Constructed Wetland and Biosorption Technique" manually in front of the panel of judges at IIT Madras. They were selected in the top 10% of the Carbon Zero Challenge contest conducted by IIT Madras and IWMA in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General Chennai and Polaris.
The participants said that the contest indeed gave them immense exposure and helped them gain supreme knowledge from top class professors of IIT Madras. They gave their best short and were certified with the certificates as the runner up of that event. This project was guided by Dr. J.S. Sudarsan, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering and motivated by Dr.K.S.Sathyanarayan, HOD Department of Civil Engineering. The students expressed their gratitude for having given them this opportunity to participate in this technical event and to present this research paper at IIT Madras.
